Shawmac deliver civil, traffic & transportation engineering and risk management services to a wide range of clients including state and local government, blue chip construction companies, land and property developers and allied professional practices.

Established in 1996, by Gordon Macpherson and Tony Shaw, Shawmac prides itself on an effective and responsive approach that aims at providing cost-effective outcomes for clients and the community, together with the flexibility to supply dedicated teams for all projects irrespective of size and value.

Key Personnel

Tony Shaw- Director

Tony has developed expertise in Civil and Infrastructure Engineering, Traffic Engineering and Transportation Planning, Road Safety and Crash Analysis, Environmental Auditing and Risk Management.  Tony holds a Bachelor of Science, Graduate Diploma of Business and a Diploma in Engineering Surveying.  He is an Accredited Lead Environmental Auditor, Accredited Senior Road Safety Auditor and an Accredited Roadworks Traffic Manager.  He is a member of the Institute of Public Works Engineering Australia and RBAQSA.

Brian Hartley- Principal Engineer.

With 25 years’ experience in the transportation, mining and civil infrastructure industry, Brian has been responsible for the planning, design and construction of major rail, highways, freeways, public transport, civil infrastructure and community development projects in Western Australia and New Zealand.  Some of Brian’s recent achievements include the role of Principal Engineer on the Simandou and the Oakajee Port and Rail project where he was responsible for the preliminary and detailed design of the rail from port to mine.  Brian is committed to delivering projects in a safe environment and his skills in this area exemplify his commitment to management and attention to detail.

Ryan Needham – Manager, Civil Engineering

Ryan is a Civil Engineer with Shawmac with over 7 years experience.  He has a  Bachelor of Engineering (Civil and Construction (Honours)) from Curtin University and his key areas of experience include Pavement design, Drainage catchment analysis, Geometric Design and construction of roads and drainage projects, Infrastructure Design for commercial and residential projects, Feasibility Studies for residential projects and Project and Contract Management for civil and land development contracts.

Bob Garton – Senior Civil Designer.

Bob has over 30 years experience in working in private practice and Local Government.  Key areas of expertise include Civil design and Drafting, Traffic Engineering and Traffic Management.  Bob has worked with Government and the private sector on a diverse range of projects. Bob’s qualifications include a Certificate in Engineering Surveying, Basic Worksite Traffic Management Certificate, Advanced Worksite Traffic Management Certificate, Accredited Senior Road Safety Auditor.
